The 2023 Rock Hall inductees include music greats such as Missy Elliot, George Michael, and Willie Nelson. In addition to the actual ceremony, they’ll be paying tribute to DJ Kool Herc, Chaka Khan Link Wray Al Kooper Bernie Taupin, and Don Cornelius in special categories as well.

Among these honored inductees Elliott Crowe Nelson and Khan are confirmed to perform during the ceremony itself. Interestingly, this year’s ceremony will be the first without Jann Wenner, the founder of Rolling Stone, on the board of directors.

Wenner, who traditionally made a public statement at the start of each annual induction ceremony, was voted out of the institution he helped co-found because of comments he made about Black and female musicians in an interview with The New York Times.

Kate Bush expressed her surprise upon learning of her induction, while Rage Against the Machine issued a rare statement, thanking the Rock Hall and reflecting on their journey leading up to this moment. Notably, neither Bush nor Rage Against the Machine have confirmed their attendance at the ceremony.

Bush, known for never touring North America, and Rage’s reunion tour, cut short after Zack de la Rocha’s injury, add a layer of intrigue to the event. The decision to broadcast the 2023 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony live on Disney+ and ABC represents a significant milestone in the history of this prestigious event.
